Real Estate Law
(3 Units)
I. Catalog Statement
Real Estate Course 6 is a study of California real estate law, including rights incident to property ownerships and management, agency, contracts, and application to real estate transfer, conveying, probate proceedings, trust deeds, and foreclosure, as well as recent legislation governing real estate transactions. This course applies toward education requirement of broker's examination.

Prerequisite: Recommended preparation: Real Estate 101 - Real Estate Principles, which is required before taking the California Salesperson License Exam.
II. Objectives
Students will be able to:
1. Recognize and appreciate the role, sources and structure of law in American life.
2. Understand the ethical and legal responsibilities inherent in the brokerage of real property.
3. Appreciate the breadth of issues subsumed in the field of real estate law.
4. Read a legal opinion, with some understanding of its factual and procedural setting, and its purpose.
